Raccoons, coyotes and squirrels that are fed by people often lose their fear of humans and may become aggressive when not fed as expected. One unique trait of this family is the ability to drink without tipping the head back, something no other bird can do.
Living along much of the Pacific Coast, Band-tailed Pigeons are found in low- and mid-elevation forests. Cooper’s Hawks can be found throughout much of Washington State year-round, though in the northern parts of the state they are only around to breed in the warmer months. Berries, acorns, and other seeds and nuts make up most of the Band-tailed Pigeon's diet.
